Starting May 25th, 2021, grade 11 students at St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School will have the opportunity to write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test field test. Students who pass this field test will fulfill their graduation OSSLT requirement.
Students who are grade 11 and face-to-face learners will be writing from May 28th- June 4th in their cohorted classroom. Grade 11 online students who indicate that they would like to write the OSSLT will be placed in a separate Cohort on the following days, May 26th, May 27th or May 28th, 2021. The test will take students approximately 2.5 hours to write and participation for online learners is optional. Students cannot write this test from home and must come into the school to have the test proctored by a Teacher.
If your grade 11 child is a face-to-face learner, you do not have to complete any further action as these students will be writing in class.
If your grade 11 child is an online learner and you do not want him/ her to write the field test, you also do not have to take any further action at this point. The Ministry of Education has indicated that students will have the opportunity to write this test next year.
If your grade 11 child is an online learner and you DO WANT him/ her to come into the building on May 25th, 26th or 27th to write the OSSLT field test, please complete the survey below:https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePag ...
The survey is open now and will close on April 27th at 3:00 p.m. It is important that parents who wish for their grade 11 online learners to come in to write the test complete this survey before April 27th at 3:00 p.m. After this date, we will not be able to add online students to the list to write as space will be limited and our planning will depend on the numbers collected by April 27th.
