Ms. C. D'Elia, Principal

Ms. D'Elia is a born and raised Hamiltonian and is extremely excited to be coming back to Cardinal Newman C.S.S. where she began her teaching career in 2004. Ms. D’Elia attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary school and then St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary school. When at STM, Ms. D’Elia was involved in her school community as a student athlete playing volleyball, slopitch and badminton and was involved in clubs and committees such as Yearbook, Language Club, and even organized blood drives. Ms. D’Elia also had the amazing opportunity to do her Co-op placement in the Intensive Care Unit at McMaster University Medical Centre where she was then employed for over 10 years.
Ms. D’Elia then went on to McMaster University and graduated with an Honours degree in Kinesiology with a Minor in Italian Studies. She also was able to be a Teaching Assistant and taught first year Italian to university students. This is where Ms. D’Elia’s passion for teaching began and led her to teaching as a career. Ms. D’Elia then attended Brock University for teacher’s college and started her teaching career at Cardinal Newman C.S.S. where she taught Science, Careers and Health Care for 10 years.
As a Vice- Principal Miss D’Elia first travelled to Bishop Ryan, then to Bishop Tonnos and then to Cathedral High School in her five years as a Vice Principal. Ms. D’Elia loved her time as a Vice Principal working with students and staff supporting teaching, learning and growth.
Ms. D'Elia's office can be found in the main office at St. John Henry Newman and she welcomes students, staff and parents into her office for anything that they may need help with.
